I don’t think my Mom never realized she was buildi

I don’t think my Mom never realized she was building Stonehaven long before I was. 🤍

She probably thought we were just stopping at another garage sale.

Or wandering through antique markets for the afternoon.

Or spending hours rearranging the living room because she thought it could feel just a little cozier.

Growing up, our weekends were filled with antique shops, community garage sales, craft shows, craft nights , wallpaper books, and endless decorating projects.

If you grew up in Harriston, you might even remember the old antique market where the Tim Hortons is now. We were there all the time.

I still remember saving up my money for the annual community garage sale. I found a couple of throw pillows that I absolutely had to have, and I couldn’t wait to bring them home and style my bedroom. Looking back now, I laugh because I was probably 10 years old… and already rearranging furniture. 😂

She taught me that a home doesn’t have to be expensive to be beautiful.

Thrifting is a treasure hunt.

That old things deserve another life.

That creativity is worth making time for.

And maybe most importantly, she never questioned my curiosity. She encouraged it. She asked me for advice.

Today, one of our favourite ways to spend time together is exactly the same as it was then; wandering antique stores, thrifting, having a good coffee (she makes the best), and texting each other whenever we spot something the other would love or is hunting for.

When people ask me where my love of design came from, the answer has always been pretty simple.

It started with my Mom. If you know her. You know.
She’s a COOL Mom. lol

Thank you for encouraging every creative idea, every obsession, every rearranged room, and every dream that eventually became this one.

Who should you hire first when building a custom home or doing a major renovation?

It’s one of the questions I get asked the most.

The answer isn’t as black and white as people think.

Your architect, builder, and designer all bring something different to the table; but bringing the right people into the conversation early can save you time, money, and a whole lot of “I wish we had thought of that.”

This is exactly why I’m starting> Let’s Think This Through; to have honest conversations about building, renovating, and designing a home that actually works for the way you live.
